We’re not talking actual age here; Wendy has worked at Yarnivore longer than anyone, making her the shop’s longest-running employee. She was here before the shop was even a shop!
Easy to recognize, Wendy is our pink-haired knitting guru, and can teach or fix just about anything knitted. She’s also an expert crocheter and spinner, and teaches nearly-forgotten handicrafts like tatting and naalbinding as well.
She also has original patterns available on Ravelry or through the shop.
Let’s see how Wendy answered our questionnaire:
1. What is your favorite craft?
Knitting. I love all my other crafts, but knitting is the one that’s always there to make me happy.
2. What is your least favorite craft?
Scrapbooking. I really don’t see the point.
3. What yarn makes you drool?
Yarns with interesting and unusual color combinations and funky textures. Especially if there’s also silk involved. Or if it smells good. You’ve never smelled your yarn? Dude! Try it!
4. What yarn makes you cringe?
Squeaky, rough, 100% acrylic. UGH. ::shudders::
5. What sound do you love?
Other than the sound of my granddaughter saying “Nana!”? I’d have to say backyard sounds – birds singing, windchimes tinkling, leaves rustling, children squealing in play from a few yards away, the doppler sound of a distant train whistle.
6. What sound do you hate?
My phone ringing. I gave up trying to pick a pleasant ring tone, because I quickly grow to hate them all. TEXT ME INSTEAD!
7. What is your favorite curse word alternative?
Monkey Trucker! Or Cotton-Headed Ninny-Muggins (which I learned from my niece).
8. What new-to-you crafts would you like to learn?
Glass blowing and lampworking.
9. If you couldn’t craft, what would you do with your free time?
Probably get into a LOT of trouble.
10. If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
“You thought Rhinebeck was fun? Wait ’til you see OUR fiber festival!!”
